About GravelCalc Pro
GravelCalc Pro is a free gravel calculator that instantly converts your project dimensions into cubic yards, tons and bags of gravel.
GravelCalc Pro exists because the gravel-ordering moment is oddly stressful: you're about to spend real money on a pile of rock measured in three different units — square feet at the tape measure, cubic yards on the quote, tons on the truck ticket. Our calculator and guides turn that into one consistent set of numbers you can hand to a supplier.
What we publish
One calculator, eleven pre-set versions, and reference guides with the numbers attached. The homepage tool handles rectangles, circles and border shapes in imperial or metric, converts to tons using per-material densities, counts bags, estimates cost, and remembers your inputs. Each material and project page wraps the same engine in the depth and stone choices that project actually calls for. Reference guides — the size chart, yard weights, and price ranges — carry the tables behind those defaults.
How we work
Every number on this site is either arithmetic you can check or a labeled typical value you should treat as an estimate. The formulas are published in full on the methodology page — plain-text math, no black boxes. Densities and prices are industry-typical planning figures that vary by supplier and region, and we say so wherever they appear. We don't take payment for placement, we don't sell your data, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Found a number that looks wrong, or a supplier quoting something wildly off our ranges? Tell us — see the contact page.
The people
GravelCalc Pro is run by a small independent team of developers and DIY landscapers. The project started with a driveway, a bad estimate, and a spreadsheet; it became this site after the third friend asked for the spreadsheet. We're not a quarry, a materials broker, or a lead-generation front — just people who like correct arithmetic.
